Position Overview

Industrial Steel Painters are responsible for preparing, priming, painting, and finishing fabricated steel before it leaves our shop. Every project is carefully inspected to ensure consistent coverage, proper coating thickness, and a high-quality finish that meets project specifications.

You’ll work closely with fabricators, welders, project managers, and quality control personnel to ensure every component is delivered ready for installation.

  • Elevator Hoist Beams
  • Equipment Platforms
  • Roof & Pit Ladders
  • Miscellaneous Steel
  • Custom Architectural Steel

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

✔ Surface preparation and cleaning

✔ Grinding and final steel preparation

✔ Masking and protecting finished surfaces

✔ Applying industrial primers

✔ Applying high-performance finish coats

✔ Mixing coatings to manufacturer specifications

✔ Inspecting coating quality and consistency

✔ Maintaining paint equipment

✔ Following paint manufacturer specifications

✔ Maintaining a clean and organized paint area

✔ Supporting Bare Steel’s quality standards


Coating Systems

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Zinc-Rich Primers
  • Epoxy Primers
  • High-Build Epoxy Coatings
  • Polyurethane Finish Coats
  • Sherwin-Williams Industrial Systems
  • Military-Grade Coating Systems
  • Shop-Applied Finish Paint
  • Galvanized Steel Preparation

Equipment You’ll Use

  • Airless Spray Systems
  • Conventional Spray Guns
  • HVLP Spray Equipment
  • Pressure Pots
  • Mixing Equipment
  • Grinders
  • DA Sanders
  • Surface Preparation Tools
  • Dry Film Thickness Gauges
  • Hoists and Material Handling Equipment

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

  • Industrial steel painting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of coating systems and surface preparation
  • Experience using spray equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read paint specifications
  • Reliable transportation
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Work in a fabrication and paint shop environment.
  • Wear respirators and required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
